Waterproofing can be
described as the treatment of a surface or structure in order to prevent water
infiltration
under hydrostatic pressure.á The goal is
to protect the space, contents and the structure itself.
Penetration of water within
the building envelope is one of the most significant problems experienced with the design
and construction of buildings.á Problems
created by water penetration generally arenÆt recognized until after a building has
been occupied and correcting these problems is often expensive, time
consuming and extremely frustrating to the occupants.
